Rendering procedure

• Make the instrument patches for a sampler using RWC samples of three dynamics (ff, mf and pp). (Download the onset marker files of RWC samples)
• Separate each MIDI instrument track from the original MIDI file, retaining the tempo track and all control messages and channel messages.
• Split each instrument MIDI file into separate tracks such that the rendered samples don't overlap.
• Render each monophonic track using a sequencer+sampler system.

Why not using MIDI notes as reference?

• The end of MIDI note is usually not the end of rendered signal. (see the figure below)
• The MIDI note does not provide precise F0s.
