I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol, England. After having completed my second year of undergraduate studies I spent eleven months living in Paris and working at l'Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique (IRCAM). I worked with the Analyse/Synthèse team headed by Xavier Rodet and primarily under the supervision of Axel Roebel. I spent a large part of my time at IRCAM designing and maintaining this website. I also made contributions to various projects active within the team at that time as well as carried out my own research.

My current research interests revolve around the creation and evaluation of Digital Musical Instruments (DMIs) as well as the design theory behind them put forward in various articles, confrences and thesis'. I am especially interested in the various techniques that may be used to try to reproduce in new DMIs some of the fundamental physical elements of interaction with an acoustic instrument in an attempt to afford the musician a level of expressivity and connection between instrument and audience which many controller interfaces over the history of digital electronic music have (often deliberately) removed. I will be studying this topic as well as designing and building my own DMI for the final year project of my undergraduate degree from Sept '10 to June '11.
